Treat every opportunity like it’s your last

As a senior myself, it’s much easier to put this into perspective.

We only live this life once and it comes with limited opportunities.

We all must take advantage of the different chances we receive, because they may be the only ones we’ll ever get.

I have noticed that so many people simply let their lives pass them by. Especially at school, I see kids go through the motions every day and not truly utilize the only life they have.

They should be embracing all the wonderful aspects of life, because there are many people who have had their lives taken away by means of illness or violence.

People should take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them. We aren’t always successful the first time we try something. It would be crazy if we did, because it would mean we’re perfect.

The true champions at life, however, keep playing until they get it right. They always give their best effort and never give up, no matter what circumstance they face.

Personally, I ran the final race of my high school career this past weekend.

Right after finishing the race, it instantly struck me that I will never run for Howell High School again.

It was a low moment since I didn’t reach my goal.  Even though I was dissatisfied, I knew that I gave my best effort and left it all out on the track.

I may be done with high school athletics, but I will continue to run and I know I will eventually achieve my goal sometime in the future.

No matter if it’s competing in athletics or even spending time with your family, you should always cherish the moment, because life is surprisingly very short.

We should enjoy life and what it has to offer. We should surround ourselves with our loved ones, because they are the ones who truly make us happy.

As I move onto the next phase of my life, I will never take another second of my life for granted because I know I’m extremely lucky to have this wonderful opportunity.

I would like to thank all the people who have cared for me and guided me through my life. I definitely would not be in the position I am today without them.

If you feel you have not been living your life to its fullest, it’s never too late to change. One must not dwell on the past, but live for the present and prepare for the future.

Most importantly, don’t miss out on what could have been. Be the person that makes things happen, because you’ll live with no regrets.
