Six Howell hockey players were named to the Division 1 all-state team this month, part of a team that made a deep run into the state playoffs this season.

Five Highlanders – goalie Andrew Brownlee, defensemen Kenny Miloser and Dakota Olvin, and forwards Jake Henrikson and Branden Burton – represented Howell on the all-state first team and forward Jordan Simmons was named to the all-state second team.

While a 3-0 loss to Novi in the regional finals knocked them out of the playoffs, the number of players named to the all-state team shows how strong the program has become.

Henrikson and Burton, both seniors, led the offensive charge this year, with Henrikson scoring a county-best 37 goals to go along with 13 assists. Burton led the team in assists with 37 and also put 17 in the back of the net for the Highlanders. Miloser (9 goals, 23 assists) and Olvin (7, 17), also both seniors, were rocks on the blue line for Howell and coach Randy Montrose.

Brownlee, a junior, played in 23 games this season with a goals against average of 1.84 and a save percentage of .911. Simmons (senior) scored 18 goals and added 28 assists at forward for Howell.
