Prepping for Homecoming

THE ATTIRE
Purchasing the perfect dress is a bundle of anxiety to say the least. It needs to fit, it needs to complement, and it needs to be affordable. Located in Brighton, MI, Cinderella’s Closet is a collection of recycled dresses sold for only $25. If the perfect dress is not at Cinderella’s Closet, Windsor, which is located at the Twelve Oaks mall in Novi, has a large selection of homecoming and prom style dresses but they may range further to the pricey side. As for those looking to dress in a suit and tie, both Kohl’s and J.C. Penny hold a nice selection of dress pants. button ups, shoes, and ties that, after using a few coupons, can be relatively affordable.

THE ACCESSORIES
Jewellery isn’t a must, as it can be irritating while dancing, however, Charming Charlies dominantly showcases various colored bracelets and such to match your homecoming color scheme. For the corsage there is two options: either it’s made or it’s bought. Youtube, of course, is filled with plenty of videos on how to create one but if it’s better to purchase it then I recommend the Country Lane Flower Shop (located next to Dunkin Donuts on Michigan Ave). This flower shop also sells boutonnieres (the little flowers pinned to the suit).

THE LOOK

Unless makeup is your area of expertise, Sephora takes appointments for homecoming makeup. Although, it’s important to set a date and time sooner than later. For the up-do, you can book appointments with the salon at Ulta in Green Oaks, however this route is quite pricey. Also located in Green Oaks, Happy Nails does manicures that range from $16 to $40, depending on the treatment.

THE TICKETS

Tickets for homecoming are being sold during all lunches starting Friday, the 25th at 10$ each. After the following Monday, the ticket price increases to 15$ and, eventually, prices go up to 25$ at the door.
