Mr. Jason Feig leaves Howell High School

On Oct. 23, Mr. Jason Feig left his position as 10th grade assistant principal.

“I was responsible for student management in grade 10 and oversight of the special education department,” Mr. Feig says.

Mr. Feig left due to a job offer with the College Board. They make the SAT, PSAT, and AP classes according to source, Howell High School principal Mr. Jason Schrock. Mr. Feig’s new official title is Director of Michigan SAT. In this position he works to implement the SAT throughout high schools.

“[This] provided me an opportunity to work more broadly in the Michigan K-12 system,” Mr. Feig says.

He began working at the high school three years ago. Before that he worked as a principal at Voyager Elementary School and Highlander Way Middle School. He believes this helped him to gain his position with The College Board.

“He did amazing things for students and he will be truly missed,” Dean of Students Mrs. Lisa O’Connor says.

Currently, Leadership and Video teacher Mr. Aaron Metz is filling the role of assistant principal position. In this role, he helps out with student referrals and discipline.

“He was given a great opportunity with another company, and did what’s best for his family,” Mr. Metz says.

The district gathered an interview team to help decide who will get the position. They first posted about the position, then gathered all the interested applicants. They screened them and interviewed the applicants.

Whoever is chosen will be recommended to another small team, who will recommend them to the superintendent.  Mr. Feig’s permanent replacement should be beginning on Jan. 4, when students return from break.

“It’s an opportunity for us to bring someone new to the team who will help us move forward,” Principal Mr. Jason Schrock says.
