Twenty-year-old rap prodigy Baby Keem is taking over the music industry in 2021. He released his debut album, The Melodic Blue, on Sept. 10, featuring artists such as Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, and Don Toliver.

Since his breakout 2019 single, “ORANGE SODA,” Keem has gained popularity in the underground trap scene. Keem also released his classic mixtape, “DIE FOR MY B****,” in the same year.

Keem’s mainstream appeal grew on July 22, when Kanye West previewed his latest record Donda at a live listening party in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. On the demo track “Praise God,” Kanye rapped alongside Travis Scott and Baby Keem. Baby Keem’s verse sparked attention on social media.

Shortly over a month later, on Aug. 27, legendary MC Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem dropped the single “Family Ties.” ‘Family Ties’ is a perfect debut from the duo, especially since they are cousins. The song had many quotable bars, such as Lamar’s “Smokin’ on top fives, stop playin’, I’m that guy,” and Keem’s, “The girl of your dreams to me is a fan.”

On Sept. 6, Baby Keem previewed a track called “scapegoats,” alongside the announcement of his debut record, The Melodic Blue.

After releasing his album on Sept. 10, Keem gained a lot of attention. The album caught fire, and within two weeks, The Melodic Blue was third on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. It has also placed top three in the All Genre Albums, which leaves Keem hotter than ever before. Keem’s 3rd official album is an excellent addition to his collection, which he only continues to expand thus far.

With 16 tracks, The Melodic Blue is a fun and adventurous trap album with many fantastic records. “booman,” “first order of business,” and “vent” are all widely popular. The Melodic Blue will be widely recognized as one of the greatest albums from 2021 and will be remembered for years to come.
