Prince Harry announced his engagement to American actress, Meghan Markle, on Nov. 27. The couple have been in a relationship since the summer of 2016. However, they decided to keep it quiet until Nov. of 2016.  

The relationship between Prince Harry, 33, and Markle, 36, drew criticism due to the fact that she didn’t fit the image of a traditional princess. She was born and raised in America, three years older than Prince Harry, she is biracial, and was previously married. Markle will be the second American and first biracial person to marry into the royal family.

Markle’s engagement ring consists of three diamonds, two of which come from Princess Diana’s personal jewelry collection.

The wedding is set for May 2018 at the St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Markle will become a U.K. citizen and receive the title of Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry will also receive the new title of Duke of Sussex. Markle is expected to retire from acting to abide her royal duties.
