On Thursday, May 8, Howell High School put on their annual car show in the Highlander Restaurant parking lot. HHS students entered their cars into the following categories: best motorcycle, car, truck, sound system, and classic car. The cars were on show during all three lunches, and student spectators voted on their favorites from each category.
“I had a 1962 Mack B61,” says sophomore Jack Crilly of his winning truck, beating out three other students in the ‘Best truck’ category. “I got a $15 gas card for winning.”
“I thought that blue GMC would win,” Crilly said when asked if he thought he had a shot at winning. “It was more country than what I had.”
According to Crilly, about 80% of the school’s students showed up to look at the cars throughout the three lunch periods, giving the show the best turn out he’s seen yet.
“It was fun. I really enjoyed talking to other people who were curious about the truck, and blowing the train horns to entertain the crowd of people that the truck had drawn.”
