With the crack of a bat and the shot of a gun, spring is in the air! It’s that time of the year that some students all look forward to, spring sports! The long trudge through winter is finally over and it’s time to get back outside and play. With spring comes new life, revived energy and fresh opportunity! The opportunity to demonstrate your skills acquired over the long off-season.

Softball team receives new head varsity coach

Howell High School has been known for many years as one of Michigan’s most prestigious fastpitch softball teams. For fourteen years, the team performed under the watchful guidance of varsity coach, Paul Bushong, but now the team is experiencing a change in management. Ron Pezzoni, coach and owner of the T2 softball and baseball facility accepted the job as head varsity coach just this past off-season. After being an assistant coach alongside Bushong last year, Pezzoni is ready to take command and continue the Howell tradition.

Howell will play their regional games at Holt High School on Saturday, June 7. Howell girls softball won their districts as well. They beat Okemos 5-0 and mercied St. Johns 11-0. Both shutouts were behind sophomore pitcher Erin Utter.
