HHS gears up for Mardi-Gras themed Winterfest

Slip on your dancing shoes, everybody, because Winterfest is just around the corner! The theme for this year is Mardi Gras. Right after the boys’ basketball game on Friday the 13th, the dance will take place in the commons. It goes from 8:00-11:30 that evening.

This Scottish symbol has been Howell High School’s mascot since roughly the late 1940’s, when the 1947 yearbook referred to the Highlander.

HHS student takes fifth at Majorette competition

Twirling and catching batons is no easy thing, but junior Emily Coan has no trouble doing that and recently showed off her talent at Nov. 29th’s Miss High School Majorette competition. She started twirling after her mom brought home three batons from when she twirled in high school. Out of her three sisters, she was the only one who liked it and has stuck with twirling for six years.
